IZADI-NANO2INDUSTRY started in November 2016 with the objective to improve the conventional materials and injection moulding, casting and coating manufacturing processes, using nanotechnology.

IZADI-NANO2INDUSTRY is built on and harvests the results of previous research projects, which include Plast4Future (FP7 FoF), EFEVE (FP7 FoF) OFIENGINE (FP6 SUSTDEV) and EXTREMAT (FP6-IP) all in TRL 5.

The main technical objectives of this project are:

ENVIRONMENTALLY HEALTH AND SAFETY PILOTS:

  • To develop pilots for the production of nano-material enabled improved performance products in industrial environment.
  • Define, design and develop safe by design processes for, most efficient and environmentally friendliest nano-enabled products.
  • To improve existing manufacturing processes and equipment for the control and monitoring the use of nano-enabled products.

 

NANO-REINFORCED THERMOPLASTICS:

  • To obtain B-pillars that fulfill OEM requirements and combine plasmonic colours with anti-scratch and self-healing properties.
  • To reduce the number of painted parts in automotive parts.

 

NANO-TEXTURED SURFACES:

  • Injection moulding insert to produce structures for plasmonic colour.

 

NANO-REINFORCED CASTINGS:

  • To decrease the loss of power due to the friction between rotating and fixed motor parts.
  • To obtain an increase of rotational speed for the hydraulic motor.
  • To simplify the machining process by reducing the need of lapping.

 

NANOSTRUCTURED COATINGS:

  • To increase the wear resistance of metallic components.

 

The main rol of SEMATEC in IZADI-NANO2INDUSTRY has been to develop and validate strategies for safe-by-design and management of EHS risks, to ensure safe design of nano products, safe design and operation of project facilities, safety and health at work and future safe production and products.
For this, SEMATEC has developed a Methodological Handbook of strategies, methods and tools for safe-by-design and management of EHS risks that contains nanomaterials EHS issues.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 686165
